I feel it misses the point to say that having a new mind is not “enough.” This is rather like saying that getting elected president is not enough. Changing minds (and getting elected) is where it BEGINS. The fact that it isn’t where it ENDS doesn’t make it inadequate.

Six billion of us are currently pursuing an old program that is destroying the world, but that doesn’t mean that we’re all doing the same thing. This isn’t a one-step program—or a ten-step program or a twelve-step program we’re pursuing. This is a six-billion-step program, with each of us doing our own individual bit to destroy the world.

My work is directed toward building a new program, and this means changing minds. But having a new program in place doesn’t mean that six billion of us are suddenly all going to be doing the same thing. In other words, this new program isn’t a one-step program either—or a ten-step program or a twelve-step program. This too is a six-billion-step program, with each of us doing our own individual bit to save the world.
